    Merlot

    It gives wines with soft tannins, medium acidity, and aromas of red fruits (cherry, plum), often with notes of herbs or chocolate. They are rounder and softer on the palate compared to Cabernet Sauvignon.

    Agiorgitiko

    It can produce from rosé and light red wines with aromas of fresh red fruits (strawberry, cherry), to dense, aged wines with aromas of plum jam, spices, and chocolate. The tannins are usually velvety.

Description

The ASTIR X Winery is located on the outskirts of the city of Kalamata, the capital of Messinia in the Peloponnese. Peloponnese is considered the birthplace of Greek wine, as it has been a land full of vineyards since antiquity. Today, it is Greece's largest viticultural region.

From carefully selected vineyards in the area, the winery harvests the grapes for its wines. The specialized viticultural team monitors and cares for the cultivation of 800 acres of vineyards in collaboration with 88 local grape growers. The selection of vineyards was made with the aim of optimizing the yield of each variety.

The winery spans 14 acres and includes covered facilities of 2,500 sq.m. It houses presses, wine fermenters, and stainless steel cold storage tanks with a capacity of 3,000 tons. The wines suitable for aging are stored under optimal conditions in the winery's cellar, in 220-liter French oak barrels, which are regularly renewed. In the cellar, bottles mature and rest before reaching wine enthusiasts.
