In all three Easter short stories of this volume, the only true social dimension of Papadiamantis' work is illustrated, the soteriological reference to the New Creation.
The author sees, describes, observes, comments, and critiques or praises, as appropriate, people and situations within the social environment. However, this does not mean that he approaches sociology in a worldly sense, nor does he merely engage in ethnography.
Thus it was, is, and will be the world, no matter how hard we try to change it, and this anguish is an element of literary grace adorned by the sensitivity and linguistic beauty of the author, who knows how to soften the pain with the hope of the Kingdom.
