  • It does its job very well, the only problem is if you have it turned off and the power goes out, when the power comes back it activates, which means if for example you have it on the water heater with a relay, when the power comes back the water heater will turn on

Honest to the last euro. The Sonoff Basic R2 does exactly what it promises: it turns “dumb” devices/lights into smart ones, with easy Wi-Fi connection and control from the eWeLink app. It works perfectly with Alexa / Google Home / IFTTT, so you can set up automations and voice commands without any hassle. The timers / schedules / countdown are also very useful, especially for lighting or devices you want to turn off automatically. For basic smart control, it’s one of the best value options.

I installed it on the radiator thermostat and programmed it according to my family's needs. The essential thing is that I don't need to get up at night to turn off the radiator or generally have to keep in mind when to turn it on and when to turn it off.

Good product, initial communication with the router is difficult. Initially, you have to disable 5GHz on the router (it only works with 2.4GHz). Mine connected after I installed and uninstalled the app on my phone three or four times. Basically, it connected "when it felt like it." Once connected, it works fine, with wifi and data. I recommend it. Good luck connecting to the router...

I've had it for a while. Connected to Google Home. It has been incredibly convenient. Works perfectly. It helps people with scheduled exercise, but you can also turn it on at the last minute when you're out and find it ready as soon as you get home, without wasting time.

As a switch, it does exactly what it says, it can be used in a simple lamp up to a water heater, etc. However, the setup is a real story if you have the new routers that are available now, like I have the Vodafone Power Station Wi-Fi 6. Besides the cables, they need to be connected correctly in the installation, then there is the connection to the Wi-Fi via the app, which is where the issue lies if it doesn't find it on the first try. First, you need to go into the router settings and temporarily turn off the 5GHz band so that only the 2.4GHz remains, and do a test. If unfortunately, it still doesn't find the switch, then you need to go back into the Wi-Fi settings on the router and select only 802.11 b/g/n (as shown in the photo), regardless of what combination exists from the router, and it will work without any problems.

Such a small thing makes a big difference!!!! I use it on the water heater and I have it set up with the motion sensor of the same brand so that when the front door opens, the hot water turns on. The installation on the panel requires a relay, the whole process cost me 30 euros. Setting it up with the ewelink app took a bit of effort, but it was worth it. Attention! Make sure to connect it to the 2.4 frequency of your wifi!

Good device, works as it should. Easy installation on a panel rail with its extra base. Good control from the app. Simple and functional with timer, scheduling, etc. Be careful with wiring and installation. For remote water heater control, I recommend using a power relay for greater safety in the electrical installation. Although the device has a nominal current of 25A and covers the use for water heater control, I did not trust it and used a relay. It is still a simple Chinese construction that has to supply several kW to the water heater, which is one of the largest household loads. Since I have seen various videos, etc. using the device with a water heater essentially cutting the power circuit, I am attaching a rough wiring diagram of the device using a power relay, which I consider safer. Be careful, if you do not know, ask for help.

It works as expected. I have no complaint.

However, be careful, you need to connect the phase and neutral inputs to the corresponding L and N. If you connect them incorrectly, as mentioned by someone else in the comments, both output contacts will have voltage when turned off.

I installed this switch to control my water heater. The installation was done in parallel with a manual circuit breaker so that I can operate it as I want. In the installation, a 4A fuse was installed to protect the switch, a power relay that receives commands from the Sonoff, and a 20A automatic circuit breaker to protect before the relay. It works perfectly and flawlessly so far, and there has been no WiFi interruption. It can be controlled with the ewelink program through scheduled operation, timer, and of course, immediate on or off.

Edit: After 5 months of continuous use, it continues to respond correctly without any WiFi interruption!

I will agree with all the good reviews that other users have written.
    Value for money!
It connects immediately, works without problems, and works perfectly with Google Home.
However, I will not give it 5 stars, but only 3, because of an electric shock I experienced because of it.
    The problem?
While the switch is in the Off position, and both output contacts (both L and N) are at 220 volts - when the switch is activated, it only provides 0 volts to N in order to create the voltage difference of 220 volts.
Which twisted mind thought of this operating method?
And while this should be mentioned in bold in its accompanying documentation for safety reasons, it is not mentioned at all!

Very good little thing, easy to connect, I installed it on the water heater, it works perfectly, it has the ability to shut off on its own after the time you set. I have set it to shut off in 25 minutes twice a day, before I go to work, so that I have hot water, and after work, so that I can take a shower without worrying if there is hot water. Guys, it's worth the money, at 6€, come on, it's the best

Everything is exactly as I expected. It connected easily to the (2.4Ghz) wifi. After downloading their app, I named it, set it up, and connected it to Google Home within a few minutes.

BUT, the most important feature for me has a big problem. I am referring to the automatic switch-off after a few minutes. I got extremely confused because there are 2 ways to activate the automatic switch-off through the app.

And with both ways, even though I had set the device to switch off after 20 minutes of operation, I had different incorrect results. One time it turned off after 5 minutes, another time after 10, another time after 7, and occasionally, after the actual 20 minutes that I wanted.

I contacted the creators of the app, and they told me to restart the device. Obviously, this did not fix the problem and unfortunately, I have to keep in mind to ensure that the device operates within the desired time frame.

Apart from this issue, I am very satisfied with how the device functions

Since I have seen various videos, etc. using the device with a water heater essentially cutting the power circuit, I am attaching a rough wiring diagram of the device using a power relay, which I consider safer. Be careful, if you do not know, ask for help.

It looks good for its price.
I bought an extra 25A power relay and installed it!
I have programmed it for a week now and everything is fine!
Now we will see how it goes in the future...

It works as expected. I have no complaint.

However, be careful, you need to connect the phase and neutral inputs to the corresponding L and N. If you connect them incorrectly, as mentioned by someone else in the comments, both output contacts will have voltage when turned off.

I must have around 30 Sonoff switches, many of which are Basic version 1 and 2.

They do what they are made to do, to tell the truth I never found any differences between the two versions in practice

I have been using products from the same company for many years. They are reliable, functional, and easy to install.

Awesome. Instead of dealing with the panel, I directly installed it on the water heater and the story was over

  • It does its job very well, the only problem is if you have it turned off and the power goes out, when the power comes back it activates, which means if for example you have it on the water heater with a relay, when the power comes back the water heater will turn on

  • Honest to the last euro.

  • I installed it on the radiator thermostat and programmed it according to my family's needs. The essential thing is that I don't need to get up at night to turn off the radiator or generally have to keep in mind when to turn it on and when to turn it off.
