The idea for creating the estate arose in the early 80s, when wine professionals gathered annually in Goumenissa to bottle the wine of the year. Discussions about wine and the love for good wine led to the creation of the Chatzivaritis Winery.
They started by purchasing lands in the area of Bintabla in the wine-producing region of Goumenissa, and in 1994 they planted the first vineyard, covering an area of 50 stremmas. In 2000, another 50-stremma plot was purchased in the area of Vakoufia, near the village of Filiria, which was planted in 2001 exclusively with the varieties Xinomavro and Negoska.
In 2007, the winery was built on this vineyard. In 2017, Vangelis and Olga's daughter, Chloe, returned to Greece after studying oenology in France and Portugal, bringing her passion and experience for low-intervention wines, and started a new range of non-intervention wines.
