Barolo is the cornerstone of Piedmont, consistent and reliable over time. Leon, from Cascina Luisin, is produced in the southeastern vineyards of Serralunga d'Alba, renowned for its strict Barolo, with a bold body and strong character.
Hand-harvested, it undergoes an 8-week maceration with one week of frequent punching down and long aging in Slavonian oak barrels, creating a masterfully typical Barolo. Dense structure with aromas of dried roses, strawberries, raisins, and wet asphalt. On the palate, notes of cranberries and wild herbs unfold, framed by abundant tannins and acidity. The finish is long and persistent with hints of white pepper.
The best Barolo wines need 10-15 years to be ready for consumption and can age for several decades. For optimal elegance, decant for at least one hour.
