I wouldn't say it moisturizes, it just stays on the lips and I feel like it just seals them like Vaseline and when I remove the product, my lips are soft for a little while just because they have "soaked" somehow. I wouldn't recommend it for sleep because it will definitely leave marks on the pillowcases.
