Aquaphor Stiron washing machine filter is installed in the cold water supply of the washing machine or dishwasher to protect against "hard water" and improve detergent performance. It includes the first disposable replacement.

The polyphosphate crystals dissolve in water and essentially coat elements such as iron, calcium, magnesium, etc., making it impossible for these elements to "precipitate" out of the water and create the known problems associated with "hard" water, such as the formation of salts in pumps, washing machine resistors, etc.
