In this novel, a father narrates the romantic lives of his children - a boy and a girl - from the first awakening of instinct to the time they get married, reaching the conclusion that in the initial romantic phase, leading up to the marriage, the girl is socially very disadvantaged compared to the boy, who has so many privileges and rights.
