The action of the characters is presented through an exceptional "cinematic" sequence of flashbacks, which captivates the reader. The interest intensifies until the climax of the novel's final sentences.

Description & Specifications

Since we lost Christ, how can we live by His teaching? The other god who seized us by His hand feels differently, believes differently, loves differently. His black fingers tightly gripped our hearts and forced them to follow His own rhythm. We strayed from the path of other people, which is the path of God and Satan, to follow our own way. But there is no other path, apart from the path of man. Thus, we have arrived; we create our path without the judgment of the mind and the goodness of the soul, without even the comfort of repentance for our sins. We fashioned it solely with our passion, which we did not have the courage to expose openly.

Like cowards, we hid it deep within us and let it poison us. Without God, without the joy of good deeds and the repentance for sin, stripped of all morality, we elevated our passion to a neutral virtue and became inhumane.

Aamri a Moogou: In the hand of God. Which god does the text refer to? Which god determined Spyros' fate? Could it be that God is a mask of the individual's psychopathology, another name for that which decides on our behalf, and which Freud referred to as Libido? Or is God the absence of a metaphysical comfort? Could it be that the absence of faith in God explains the inflationary presence of gods in Karagatsis' text and creates an irreparable void in his protagonists? Or, perhaps, the unfulfillment of the protagonists' desires is merely a trick of the text to unfold the narrative, so that Bruno Schwartz serves only Karagatsis' narrative strategy? At this point, Aamri a Moogou remains silent, and, as befits literature, remains open to interpretations.
