The XDirect is an active DI box designed for connecting unbalanced instrument, line, or speaker signals to balanced inputs. The input signal is routed to an XLR output with transformer isolation, as well as to a parallel Thru output, allowing for simultaneous connection to a stage amplifier. A unique feature of ART's XDirect models is that they have both 1/4" TRS and XLR inputs for increased connectivity versatility.
Simple and rugged, the XDirect is a compact DI in a sturdy aluminum enclosure, with a versatile set of functions. The switches on the front panel activate attenuation up to 40 dB for adjusting high-level signals, as well as a Bessel low-pass filter to eliminate high-frequency interference. The switches on the back enable ground lift to reduce hum and phase reversal to resolve phase issues that may occur when combining DI and microphone sources.
The active circuitry can operate either with phantom power or for over 250 hours on a new 9V battery. Active DI boxes are often ideal for sources such as guitars and basses with passive pickups or acoustic guitars with piezo pickups without preamplification.
