This work develops the concepts of assets, liabilities, revenues, expenses, accounting events, accounting books, accounting principles, and year-end accounting documents. Emphasis is placed on the interpretation and use of accounting data, as it is believed that students will become users of this information. Basic elements for analyzing financial statements using ratios are included, as well as introductory information about companies. The purpose of the work is to serve as a useful resource for those studying introductory courses in General Accounting and to demonstrate the dependence of modern industrial society on accounting. The book was written using the sources referenced in the bibliography and the author’s teaching experience at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens. In this edition, the same principles were followed in the arrangement and development of its content, as previous reprints have shown that they meet the needs of students.
