What does the waterproof rating on camping tents indicate?

The higher the waterproofing rating, the less breathable the fabric is, and thus the warmer the tent. Common waterproofing values range from 500mm to 10,000mm. I used it for the first time this year for camping for 11 days and a little while later for another 5. Half the days, two people slept very comfortably inside, and the rest, three (of average height). Its quality is excellent for its price and it sets up and packs down easily and quickly. Its fabric is waterproof and it easily withstands a summer shower, without letting in a significant amount of water. However, from my limited experience with rain, I don't believe the seams would withstand prolonged, heavy rain. Of course, as a summer tent, maybe that's not such a big deal; something so extreme is unlikely to happen anyway. The most important thing is that it has windows and screens everywhere, making it truly very cool. It seems like it will last for quite a few summers; I recommend it unreservedly!
*The entrance mat has a trapezoidal shape, not square as shown in the first photo.
Update: 4 years later, with regular use in camping every summer, I am still just as satisfied. Its seams and poles have withstood strong winds for days. It was also exposed to steady light rain for 2-3 days, without letting water in during the first 24 hours. Unfortunately, at some point the corners gradually started letting in water, but even then I think it held up well, considering the circumstances. If it ever breaks, I will buy it again!

Δυστυχώς, σε κάποια φάση οι γωνίες άρχισαν σταδιακά να δέχονται νερό, αλλά και πάλι θεωρώ ότι κρατήθηκε σε καλό επίπεδο, βάσει της περίστασης. Αν ποτέ χαλάσει, θα την ξανά αγοράσω!

Very good tent! The windows at the bottom are very convenient for allowing enough air in but also for not being visible.. they also have zippers so even when they are secured with pegs, they close almost completely. It has an internal pocket. The description on the internet is accurate! Perfect for couples but also for a group of 3 people. It includes pegs and sticks inside plus an extra one. It is very easy to wash and dries quickly in the sun! Overall, one of the best purchases I have made and I highly recommend it without hesitation!
Πολυ καλη σκηνη!Τα παραθυρα στο κατω μερος ειναι πολυ βολικα και για να μπαινει αρκετος αερας αλλα και για να μην φαινεσαι..εχουν και φερμουαρ οποτε ακομα και οταν σταθεροποιηθουν με πασαλους κλεινουν σχεδον τελειως.Εχει εσωτερικο τσεπακι.Η περιγραφη στο internet ειναι ακριβης!Τελεια για ζευγαρια αλλα και για παρεα 3 ατομων.Περιλαμβανει μεσα σκηνια πασσαλους και sticks συν ενα επιπλεον.Πλενεται πολυ ευκολα και στεγνωνει γρηγορα στον ηλιο!Γενικα απο τις καλυτερες αγορες που εχω κανει και την προτεινω ανεπυφυλακτα!
