The publication of "Human, All Too Human" in May 1878 inaugurates Nietzsche's "positivist" or "Voltairean" period. In 1881, he combines the text of "Human, All Too Human" with two appendices, forming the book in two parts. With the honorary reference to Voltaire, he highlights his thoughts on the "Enlightenment".
