It requires experience and comfort with the traditional razor. It is not for shaving 20 minutes before going to the office. It is a machine you use with joy as part of a relaxation routine and not only that. It shaves deeply and provides a very beautiful result. It offers a feeling reminiscent of another era.

However, despite all this, it is wise not to commit yourself to one way. Don't fall for the 'never go back' mentality. The traditional razor is the best, but it has its time and place. Sometimes the Mach3 is convenient, even a Bic razor. Everything has its own positives and negatives that allow us to choose them depending on the occasion.

Initially, I feel that it doesn't cut at all. Both my brother and I tried it with different blades, and it doesn't seem to do the job. At first, as soon as you place the cap and tighten it, it covers almost the entire blade; the blade doesn't protrude much to be able to cut. I believe it's a waste of money. I am relatively new to traditional shaving and at first I was searching a lot for the razor, brushes, soaps, etc. When I started researching the razor, I saw many good comments about the R41 but I was concerned about the fact that it was an open comb and very aggressive. I started with the Merkur 34 which was quite good but it needed 3-4 passes for the desired result, especially in difficult areas. So, I decided to take the step for the R41. First shave with an aggressive blade, no cuts, and with one pass you're perfect! Personally, because I don't have very dense facial hair, I don't do a second pass with the R41. If you get this razor, I don't think you need to bother with other razors unless you like to have them as a collection.

Incredible machine. I started as a beginner with a NIPAVO for 12 euros, which I kept for 3 years until I got the Muhle. Every shave I had cuts and irritations. On the contrary, the Muhle R41, which is considered to be the most aggressive, did not cut or irritate me. It made my shaving faster, I didn't feel the blade (unlike the NIPAVO), and with one pass it shaved my entire head without leaving any hair behind. It was tested with the same soap and the same blades. With this one, I can comfortably shave every day. I highly recommend it.

Very good machine, it takes some time to get used to it, but then it is amazing. With perma sharp and nacet blades, it gives an excellent shave. It is worth every penny and more.

I have only purchased the head, as I do every time, I only buy heads, which I place on a Parker handle that has been convenient for me for the past 15 years. I had the old one that was available until 2013 but it broke due to a fall (it got bent). The new one that I bought, meaning the one that is currently available, is less aggressive compared to the old one. 8/10 for the new model, the old one had a 9/10 aggressiveness. I shave my face, head (once a week), armpits, chest, groin area (once every 3 weeks), and never legs and arms.

It is the second safety razor that passes through my hands and the first open comb type. I use it for daily shaving on my head and I am completely satisfied. Along with the use of pre-shave and shaving soap, I have no issues with cuts or irritations. So far, I have tried it with Muhle and Feather blades.

I should also mention that it requires great caution. It is really easy to cut yourself, and quite badly, if you apply too much force or if you don't hold it correctly, so those who don't have a steady hand or are in a rush probably won't find this one convenient. With a sharp blade and the right angle, the weight of the machine is enough for a close shave.

7 years user of traditional shaving. I had the Merkur 34c and I decided to try an open comb type, having the confidence that I am now experienced. The machine is great, it gives a close shave if you have some experience, it doesn't cause any cuts or irritation, it's very easy to clean, and I can tell that the construction is more durable than the Merkur. Personally, when I used it with the most aggressive feather blade, the shaving experience was enjoyable. I also use it for shaving my whole body and the pubic area with absolute safety, with the advantage that it can handle a larger volume of hair in one pass. Bloodbath! The blade is very exposed, resulting in cutting yourself with the slightest touch, on every small irregularity of the skin. I tried it with two different razors: a new Feather and a used Gillette. The result was the same. Deep cuts and irritation all over the face.
If you want to argue with your skin every time you shave, then this is the product for you. If you're looking for a smooth shave without cuts, then look for another product.

The ultimate shaving machine. Ten years on the market and already considered a "legend" in wet shaving. Quite aggressive but mainly very effective. You don't want to be fooled by it and underestimate it, paying attention as the blade is constantly on your cheek.. and you feel it. However, it will give you the most beautiful shaves once you get to know it. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners who haven't already developed a technique in their hand, nor for anyone who wants to shave every day. From three days and above, take it with closed eyes. As for its construction: high quality and beautiful, especially in the Rosegold version. Pair it with a good soap or cream that provides protection for the irritations and good slipperiness. Finally, the performance-to-price ratio: excellent! The absolute 10/10 in shaving machines.
