Excellent. Combined with the Bic Astor. Very good result on both short and long beards. It also allows for a quick shave once you learn it well enough. Be careful, don't press, let its weight do the work for you.

It needs a lot of care. With a 5-day beard and a new Muhle blade, 4 cuts and a bit of blood. However, it gives a deep shave in one pass. For me, closed-comb razors are preferable.

For its price, a very good shaver.
A little caution is needed until someone gets used to it because it is quite aggressive.

Very good machine. I have been shaving with a traditional razor since my first mustache. It is not a forgiving machine nor is it aimed at a broad audience. It requires experience and comfort with the traditional razor. It is not for shaving 20 minutes before going to the office. It is a machine you use with joy as part of a relaxation routine and not only that. It shaves deeply and provides a very beautiful result. It offers a feeling reminiscent of another era.

However, despite all this, it is wise not to commit yourself to one way. Don't fall for the 'never go back' mentality. The traditional razor is the best, but it has its time and place. Sometimes the Mach3 is convenient, even a Bic razor. Everything has its own positives and negatives that allow us to choose them depending on the occasion.

after about five years I decided to upgrade my shaving a bit...I went to the Muhle r41 and realized various things with the razor gliding over the unshaven beard as if it were butter. Don't be intimidated by those who say you will get cut etc., it just needs a little attention and not a rushed movement. Otherwise, words are poor, there is no higher level than something like this. With the right blade, it is simply magical, perfect result, soft skin, no irritations. I recommend it without reservation, but first try another one for a while so your hand gets used to it and then you will enjoy the upgrade when you go to the R41.

The machine offers a comfortable and deep shave, as long as you are careful. Now, if someone comes from, for example, Gillette Fusion, and goes and buys the R41, and thinks they will shave as they did with the Fusion, they either won't shave properly, or they'll cut themselves, or both

Initially, I feel that it doesn't cut at all. Both my brother and I tried it with different blades, and it doesn't seem to do the job. At first, as soon as you place the cap and tighten it, it covers almost the entire blade; the blade doesn't protrude much to be able to cut. I believe it's a waste of money. It's better to get another one or an electric shaver...

First, let me mention that I have been involved with DE shaving since the quarantine (COVID-19) and it is now a hobby of mine.
Many people consider it to be a close comb razor, but it is not. It requires great attention and is not recommended for beginners or as a first razor.
I have only used it with an Astor blade, and it provides an amazing close shave and a smooth glide for the first pass. You don't even feel the blade, it's like being embraced by a cloud, really...
Its weight is exactly what it should be. As for the finish, I wanted it to be a bit more pronounced for better grip.
Although what I will say about the Muhle R41 is subjective for some, it does a better job than the Merkur futur...
The three parts of it are of high quality, and without going into too much detail, if you take care of this gem, I believe it will last you a lifetime.

I am relatively new to traditional shaving and at first I was searching a lot for the razor, brushes, soaps, etc. When I started researching the razor, I saw many good comments about the R41 but I was concerned about the fact that it was an open comb and very aggressive. I started with the Merkur 34 which was quite good but it needed 3-4 passes for the desired result, especially in difficult areas. So, I decided to take the step for the R41. First shave with an aggressive blade, no cuts, and with one pass you're perfect! Personally, because I don't have very dense facial hair, I don't do a second pass with the R41. If you get this razor, I don't think you need to bother with other razors unless you like to have them as a collection.

Incredible machine. I started as a beginner with a NIPAVO for 12 euros, which I kept for 3 years until I got the Muhle. Every shave I had cuts and irritations. On the contrary, the Muhle R41, which is considered to be the most aggressive, did not cut or irritate me. It made my shaving faster, I didn't feel the blade (unlike the NIPAVO), and with one pass it shaved my entire head without leaving any hair behind. It was tested with the same soap and the same blades. With this one, I can comfortably shave every day. I highly recommend it.

I have only purchased the head, as I do every time, I only buy heads, which I place on a Parker handle that has been convenient for me for the past 15 years. I had the old one that was available until 2013 but it broke due to a fall (it got bent). The new one that I bought, meaning the one that is currently available, is less aggressive compared to the old one. 8/10 for the new model, the old one had a 9/10 aggressiveness. I shave my face, head (once a week), armpits, chest, groin area (once every 3 weeks), and never legs and arms.

It is the second safety razor that passes through my hands and the first open comb type. I use it for daily shaving on my head and I am completely satisfied. Along with the use of pre-shave and shaving soap, I have no issues with cuts or irritations. So far, I have tried it with Muhle and Feather blades.

I should also mention that it requires great caution. It is really easy to cut yourself, and quite badly, if you apply too much force or if you don't hold it correctly, so those who don't have a steady hand or are in a rush probably won't find this one convenient. With a sharp blade and the right angle, the weight of the machine is enough for a close shave.

    It's not for beginners.
Once you gain experience, it is a machine that, once you understand it, it doesn't make sense to go to another one.
Deep shaving, with Voskhod blades, makes an awesome pair.

7 years user of traditional shaving. I had the Merkur 34c and I decided to try an open comb type, having the confidence that I am now experienced. The machine is great, it gives a close shave if you have some experience, it doesn't cause any cuts or irritation, it's very easy to clean, and I can tell that the construction is more durable than the Merkur. Personally, when I used it with the most aggressive feather blade, the shaving experience was enjoyable. I also use it for shaving my whole body and the pubic area with absolute safety, with the advantage that it can handle a larger volume of hair in one pass. The users above who talk about cuts, I imagine they are quite beginners. There are videos on YouTube that show you how to shave traditionally.

    1) It is not a machine for novice users. It requires experience in using safety razors.
    2) It is perhaps the most aggressive machine along with the Rockwell 6. So if you don't have a steady hand, leave it.
    3) It is not suitable for those who want to shave daily. They should use closed comb machines.
    4) Do not use aggressive blades. That means no Muhle (it irritates). Feather, not even as a joke. Personal choice: Astra Platinum. I have never cut myself.
If you follow the above, you will enjoy the best shave.

Bloodbath! The blade is very exposed, resulting in cutting yourself with the slightest touch, on every small irregularity of the skin. I tried it with two different razors: a new Feather and a used Gillette. The result was the same. Deep cuts and irritation all over the face.
If you want to argue with your skin every time you shave, then this is the product for you. If you're looking for a smooth shave without cuts, then look for another product.

After 3 years of immersion in traditional shaving and testing several razors, I have come to my number one choice! Muhle R41. It is quite an aggressive machine, but you can adjust it to your liking with the right blade. I don't know what to say about this beast of a razor. I have put aside all my other razors and only shave with this one now. The shaving experience that this razor provides cannot be achieved with any other razor (mercur progress, mercur 34c, rockwell 6c...). The ultimate tool for enthusiasts of traditional shaving! Muhle R41!!!

The ultimate shaving machine. Ten years on the market and already considered a "legend" in wet shaving. Quite aggressive but mainly very effective. You don't want to be fooled by it and underestimate it, paying attention as the blade is constantly on your cheek.. and you feel it. However, it will give you the most beautiful shaves once you get to know it. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners who haven't already developed a technique in their hand, nor for anyone who wants to shave every day. From three days and above, take it with closed eyes. As for its construction: high quality and beautiful, especially in the Rosegold version. Pair it with a good soap or cream that provides protection for the irritations and good slipperiness. Finally, the performance-to-price ratio: excellent! The absolute 10/10 in shaving machines.

Very good machine, it takes some time to get used to it, but then it is amazing. With perma sharp and nacet blades, it gives an excellent shave. It is worth every penny and more.

I was skeptical about the first shaves. It is the first safety razor I use. With time, I learned it. When I needed to use a regular razor, I was able to appreciate the safety. I recommend it!

A very aggressive razor. Even I, with thick, coarse hair, felt it. Of course, I also used an aggressive blade (Permasharp). For long beards, it is very good, it doesn't give you as much trouble. Not for beginners.

  • Excellent. Combined with the Bic Astor. Very good result on both short and long beards. It also allows for a quick shave once you learn it well enough. Be careful, don't press, let its weight do the work for you.

  • It needs a lot of care. With a 5-day beard and a new Muhle blade, 4 cuts and a bit of blood. However, it gives a deep shave in one pass. For me, closed-comb razors are preferable.

  • For its price, a very good shaver.
A little caution is needed until someone gets used to it because it is quite aggressive.

  • Very good machine.

  • after about five years I decided to upgrade my shaving a bit...I went to the Muhle r41 and realized various things with the razor gliding over the unshaven beard as if it were butter.
