The mattresses initially have a strong plastic smell (which fades over time), they are quite foamy and not at all sturdy. The main problem is that they slide a lot with slightly sweaty hands/feet. I think they are an economical solution for temporary use and would recommend them in that context. However, I would not recommend them as a basic yoga mat, for example.
