I bought it as my first DSLR. Before this, as a complete beginner, I had no idea about photography. I used to take photos with my phone and struggled to edit them to make them look like they were taken with a DSLR. However, I had watched so many videos before getting my hands on this camera that I already knew it inside out! I decided to buy an advanced DSLR in case I improve, so I wouldn't have to buy another body. I received it on 11/08/2020.
Well, let me tell you, it's an incredible camera. It's not just semi-professional, but even more than that.
I was torn between the D7200 and D7500, and I chose the D7500 and I don't regret it for a moment! The reason I was hesitant was because of trivial matters and misinformation about the lower megapixels. The photos are divine!!! I took amazing shots in Auto mode since I haven't learned the manual mode yet. This camera has a lot to teach you!
I also tried the effects! It takes even better photos!
I haven't explored the manual mode yet, as mentioned before. The flash is not very satisfying for an amateur like me, as I have used a friend's DSLR, which was the D90 model from a decade ago. Now, about the lens, the 18-140mm VR, I don't have much to say since I haven't used any other lens before, except for a similar one that my friend's D90 had. It is more solidly built and quite heavy, but I don't mind! I wanted to take long-distance shots! The manual focus works wonderfully, quickly, and very easily. I had no difficulties at all.
As for the video, the fact that it's 4K speaks for itself...

(Regarding the card slot, which has been a topic of discussion, it's not a problem because the snapbridge feature makes it easier, or you can just get a 128GB or 256GB memory card, or even a 64GB one, which still facilitates the process. The only positive thing about the dual card slot is that (if it had it) you would have the option to save NEF files in one slot and JPEG files in the other. Here, Nikon made a big mistake because they aimed for semi-professional use, not professional.)

UPDATE 18/08/2020

By learning the camera in Manual Mode, I can say that with the right lens, it is on par with full-frame cameras, and I have also explored other camera bodies!!! I believe it is on par in terms of image quality with the D750 and the appropriate lenses in terms of crystal-clear clarity. If we consider all the additional gadgets that the D7500 has, it surpasses the highly praised D750!!!

So, this is a camera that, with a lens that is so sharp, you would think it's definitely full-frame, and then you rub your eyes when you read that it's a crop frame. I emphasize again that I still read that many people get stuck on the fact that it has fewer megapixels. Come on, let's get a grip and look at the D5 or D6, which are considered the top Nikon cameras; they have fewer megapixels than the D7500 by exactly one stop. To be precise, the D7500 has 20.9MP, and the other two have 20.8MP. The reason they have fewer megapixels is that too many megapixels hinder the entry of light into the sensor and result in a crystal-clear image. If you want the pixel, the pixel, the pixel, oh, the pixel, go for the D850 to enjoy the megapixels if your pocket can handle it (not just for the camera purchase, but also for later on with lenses, flash, etc.), and it's truly useless if you're not a professional. You will never fully utilize a professional camera. To come back and not ramble, this is about the Top crop frame camera that comes with an internal flash for those who don't want to spend money on an external flash. Although it is good to get an external flash in my opinion to give a pro touch :D those who want the top crop should take a look at the D500 without a built-in flash. So go back to full frame again, mama... So it is the best purchase in crop frame with all that an amateur wants.. I am very satisfied!!!!!! ;)

Amazing, I am an amateur, coming from Nikon D5300 I saw huge differences both in appearance and quality as well as in photography especially at night it is something else 25 thousand iso and it is like shooting with the Nikon D5300 at 6 thousand. One positive thing is that the iso goes down to 50 iso and can be increased up to 1,640,000 iso, I liked that the screen is touch and detachable, it has a sensor above the eyepiece that gets very close to the head to see how to take the photo-video the screen closes so as not to dazzle you, it is one of the best I can say, perfect grip in the hand, for a camera I was torn between the d7500 and the d750 I did not buy the D750 because 1) I am not a professional now (I may follow it in the future), 2) I did not have the financial ability to buy lenses for a Full Frame camera, 3) it is an old camera yes good but it is still old not that anything will happen, but technology advances, I am not talking about the marketing of each company I am talking about technology, let's go back if I were a professional then I would go straight to the d850 if I couldn't for financial reasons then I would wait a while because Nikon announced the new cameras Nikon D760 - Nikon D780

I have nothing different to add from the previous speakers. The camera is the second best APS-C camera on the market (at this price). If someone considers photography as their hobby and has the money, I suggest they stop what they're doing now and go buy it. Clearly, it is not mirrorless (in terms of portability). However, in mirrorless cameras, you can find what this specific camera offers at 20-30% higher price. And I'm saying few (e.g. Fujifilm x-t2). The quality in the photos is unbelievable (let me say it again: un-be-lie-va-ble). If you put a prime 35mm lens on this camera, which you can find for 150€, you won't find the same quality for that price anywhere else. Therefore, if someone wants to shoot various subjects (e.g. landscapes, portraits, close-ups, architecture, food, products, etc.), this camera is excellent because it does almost everything perfectly (it's not pro, but it's close to pro). It resembles the d500 in terms of features but not in price. However, if someone wants a grab-and-go camera to take stealthy street photos in the city center, it's better to look elsewhere.

As I come from the NIKON D5200, which I had for 5 years, the review essentially concerns my opinions about the D7500 in relation to the D5200. Someone who has a better camera, such as the 7200, may not read anything they don't already know.

Ergonomics

With the 5200, I would place the screen on the side, so when I approached the viewfinder, there was a little space, in the gap that was created, for my nose. As funny as it may sound, with this screen in the middle, my nose gets squeezed and I can't get close to the viewfinder properly. Not to mention that the screen constantly gets dirty and needs cleaning. Also, in the old camera, the screen closed with the glass protected towards the inside, while here it remains vulnerable.

Another issue is the locking of the left adjustment wheel. Due to the lock switch (supposedly for safety, so that the settings don't accidentally change), it is difficult to use it with one finger. So, it's a waste of precious time...

Inside the grip, they have placed a button that essentially prevents me from enjoying the grip of the camera. With the old one, I could comfortably hold the camera just by the grip. Here, with the button in the middle, I don't know how to position my fingers to have a good grip. Time will tell if I eventually get used to it.

On the positive side, the viewfinder is much brighter and larger, as you can now see the entire optical field. With my old D5200, there was a gap around it and I had to guess what would finally appear in the photo.

It also has a lot of customization options on the buttons.

The LCD screen on the top hasn't been useful to me for anything and I have ignored it for now. Maybe its presence requires getting used to. It would be useful if it showed the battery level while the camera is off, but I haven't found a setting to do that.

Quality and Functionality

The camera works flawlessly with the TAMRON 16-300 and very well with the NISSIN flash (i60a), even with HSS, although I noticed that 1 out of 4 times the flash in HSS didn't fire. I'm looking into it.

The NEF files it produces are around 24 MB.

In a small theater performance, the autofocus worked perfectly, as did the burst of photos. The old 5200 struggled somewhat to cope with AF-C and simultaneous Burst, while the 7500 didn't seem to have any trouble. The images were very clear and the colors vibrant. Although the shutter speed was at 1/350, with a wide open aperture of course, the ISO generally remained at low levels (Auto ISO), which pleasantly surprised me, as with the old one in similar situations, I had to push the ISO to its limits. Also, the AUTO WB worked quite well, as very few times did it require significant intervention for correction with software.

D7500 vs D500. Why I ultimately didn't choose the D500

I saw that there were reviews and there weren't for both cameras. Even in Chinese... So, I was in a crazy dilemma, almost until the moment I entered the store. However, there I finally made the decision for the smaller D7500. For the following personal reasons, of course:

1st... and most importantly in the end.
I am not a professional photographer nor do I plan to pursue photography professionally in the future and make any profit from the photos. I simply want to pursue my hobby and capture the beautiful moments I live with my family as best as possible. The 150-something AF points and the autofocus system borrowed from the D5, which is super-duper, are great for capturing wildlife in their natural environment. But still, the only "wildlife" I have to photograph in its natural environment is my little one! Not to mention that the weight would be too much. It's already somewhat difficult for me, especially when carrying the 16-300 lens. Fortunately, Nikon has taken care of the D500 to lighten the pocket by an additional €600...

If I were a professional and intended to amortize the camera, I would go not for the D500 but straight to the D850.

2. Compared to the camera I come from (D5200), the upgrade, even to the "simple and modest" 7500, is huge.

3. I want a built-in flash. Yes, I have an external one, but I don't always want to carry it with me, and as good as the performance is in low light, a flash, even on camera, is useful. Plus, it also serves as a trigger for the external flash, without me needing to spend (at least for now) another €60 for a radio controller.

4. I'm not so concerned about the presence of a second SD card. In the 5 years I had my old camera, the card worked perfectly. But even if the devil breaks its leg and it fails, there is the option to immediately and continuously send the JPEGs taken by the camera to the connected mobile phone via SNAPBRIDGE. So some, if not all, of the images will be saved (as long as they are not also stored on the mobile's microSD and that one fails too). Since I won't be giving them to any client I just photographed (for their bad luck) their wedding, I'll be fine even with the 2MB JPEGs at a resolution of 1620 x 1080. I already tested it at an event and it sent all the photos I took directly to my mobile.

In conclusion, after two weeks of use, I think I am very satisfied with the upgrade, especially since I got it through NIKON CASHBACK. Because it also has its negatives, I give it 4 stars and time will tell... I will come back at some point with updates...

UPDATE regarding the Nissin i60a Flash

I finally learned how to use the camera in Commander Mode with the Nissin as a Slave, and I can confirm that they work perfectly together in manual or TTL mode and with adjustments through the camera, including HSS. All of this, of course, with Optical Wireless, meaning that the commands are given by the camera's built-in flash. I haven't tried connecting them with radio frequencies yet.

UPDATE for two more things

1. The small LCD screen is actually very good in the sun. Where the regular screen is not visible at all on a sunny day, the small LCD is crystal clear.

2. In Live View Mode, every change in aperture is accompanied by a strange mechanical sound. At first, I thought there was a problem with the lens, but then I realized it also happened with another lens, so I thought the issue was with the camera. However, from what I read on various sites, it is the sound made by the aperture opening or closing to show the live image (depth of field, brightness, etc.). My old camera obviously didn't have this feature. It may be something known to many, but it surprised me, so I thought I'd mention it.

UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2019
Now that I've gotten used to its ergonomic issues, I will upgrade it to 5 stars because it is otherwise flawless. It also works well with the TAMRON 24-70 f2.8 G2 (although the lens required a lot of adjustment) and works perfectly with the new TAMRON 35-150 f2.8-4. The only negative aspect that remains (but all Nikon DSLRs have it) is the focusing in live view, especially when shooting videos. Essentially, it cannot focus quickly enough and often focuses on the wrong point. To overcome this, I bought an eyepiece that attaches to the front screen and now use Manual Focus. However, for my next camera, possibly much later, I might switch to Nikon Z. Unless I find a good deal on a D850.

UPDATE 2: SEPTEMBER 2020
Switched to Nikon Z6. The D7500 was great for photos but very difficult to use for videos. The only way to achieve decent results was with Manual Focus, which was challenging, especially since you have to view the focus on the LCD while holding the camera like a mobile phone, while also keeping it stable. The eyepiece I bought for this purpose was not practical as it had to be constantly removed for video or photo use and was quite cumbersome. As a result, I missed an important moment of my child that I wanted to capture due to incorrect focusing at the most inappropriate moment. So, I changed my rating and give it 4 stars again. However, for those who are not interested in videos, consider it as a 5-star rating. In the Z6, the eye detect feature is very convenient, it locks on immediately and stays fixed, plus I can see through the camera's eyepiece while shooting videos. No more camera-phone combination. These are my thoughts for a future review of the Z6, when I have the opportunity...

I have had the camera for about a month and I mainly use it with two lenses, the Nikon 16-80 and the 35 1.8g. Coming from the D5500, I can say that this camera is on another level.

The positives are the very good sensor, the fast processor, the 8 fps, the touchscreen, the very good autofocus system, the excellent noise management at high ISO, and its ergonomics. Compared to the D5500, which has the same sensor as the D7200, I noticed that with the same settings, when I took the same low-light night scene at 24mm, with an aperture of f/3.0 and ISO 3200, the shutter speed on the D5500 was 1/20 while on the 7500 it was 1/60! More than 1 stop difference! I cannot explain this based on the measurements of Dxomark, which apparently have the same ISO sensitivity. Another photographer who compared these two models confirmed this for me. Also, compared to the D5500 and the D7200, it is one stop better in noise management at high ISO. The D7500 at ISO 6400 produces approximately the same amount of noise as the D5500 and D7200 at ISO 3200! Furthermore, the photos it produces require almost no editing in basic settings such as exposure and brightness. With the D5500, I had to do some work as it often required exposure compensation of +1/3 or +2/3 during editing. Another positive is the placement of the ISO button next to the shutter button, allowing you to change the ISO instantly when needed.

Now, for the negatives, I will mention the cuts compared to the D7200, which was one of the most complete cameras with an APS-C sensor. Because, although the new processor, sensor, and metering system are good, they removed the second memory card slot, the external grip, and the ability to meter with old lenses without a chip. A big mistake from Nikon, I give them a yellow card for this as these were reasons for considering the D7200. However, technology is advancing and it compensates with its night shots. Also, I would have liked it to be made of magnesium, even if it was a few grams heavier.

A side-by-side test with a D7200 confirmed what I mentioned above compared to the D5500. A photo of an indoor space with low to moderate lighting.

The lens used for the tests was the Nikon 18-105 VR.
With the Nikon 16-80 on the D7500, at the same settings, the shutter speed was 1/80, which means it gave approximately 1/3 of a stop extra speed.
