Clear- Barrel: Straight metal cylindrical knob with a flat top, usually secured with a side set screw.
- Chicken Head: Knob with a pointed protruding “pointer.” It provides immediate visual confirmation of the setting, ideal for pedals, amplifiers, and switches.
- Concentric: Double concentric 2-level knob (top/bottom) for dual potentiometers, commonly used on electric basses (e.g. Jazz Bass).
- Dome: Metal knob with a curved top. A classic choice for Telecaster, electric basses, and guitars with metal hardware.
- Flat Top: Flat metal or plastic knob with a completely flat top surface, without curvature.
- Jazz Bass Style: Classic bass knob style with distinctive side grooves and a position indicator line.
- Reflector: Similar to the Bell/Top Hat, but features a metal ring/insert (silver or gold) on the top for a retro 60s aesthetic.
- Speed: Cylindrical plastic knob with a numbered scale around the edge. Easy to read and quick to adjust, very popular on Les Paul & SG.
- Stratocaster Style: Conical plastic knob with vertical ridges and inscription (Volume / Tone). The classic design for Strat-style guitars.
- Top Hat: Button that narrows toward the top, resembling a hat/bell. Timeless vintage style, characteristic of classic Gibson models.
- Witch Hat: Tall knob with a wide numbered base (“witch hat”). Popular on Fender Jazzmaster, Jaguar, and vintage amplifiers.
