Giota Pastra

Giota Pastra is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at ALBA Graduate Business School. She holds two degrees in Accounting and Business Administration from the American College of Greece, a master's degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Manchester, UK, and a Ph.D. from the University of Strathclyde. Her teaching and research interests focus on management control, financial accounting and auditing, interdisciplinary accounting, and issues related to professional services firms. Her research concentrates on studying the largest Anglo-Saxon accounting firms, internationally known as "The Big 5," addressing questions about their "power," internationalization, and historical evolution and development. Developments in the field of accounting, as well as international trends, have drawn her research interest to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) - specifically, the relationship between CSR and financial performance, as well as CSR's relationship with non-profit organizations. She has designed and delivered courses including Financial Accounting, Financial Statement Analysis, Management Accounting, and Research Methodology and Methods in Accounting. She has taught at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the University of Strathclyde and the Toulouse Business School. Her research findings have been published in international journals (Accounting Education) and presented at international conferences (European Group of Organization Studies [EGOS], European Accounting Association Conference [EAA], and Critical Perspectives on Accounting [CPA] Conference). She is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, the Association of International Accountants, and the Professional Services Firms Community.
