Ilias Visvikis
Ilias Visvikis is an Assistant Professor of Finance at ALBA Graduate Business School and serves as the academic director of the AMBA-accredited MBA in Shipping program. He is also the director (in Greece) of the MSc in International Shipping and Finance program, jointly offered by the ICMA Centre - Henley Business School at the University of Reading and ALBA. He holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of the Aegean and two master's degrees, one in International Financial Markets from the University of Southampton and another in International Shipping from the University of Plymouth, England. He completed his Ph.D. in Finance, specializing in the econometric analysis of the shipping derivatives market, at Cass Business School, City University of London. His doctoral research was funded by NATO, under the supervision of the Greek Ministry of Finance. He has taught at the University of Piraeus, the Hellenic Open University, Erasmus University Rotterdam, the University of Antwerp, the World Maritime University, and the Cyprus International Institute of Management. Regarding his research activities, he has published papers in the fields of finance and maritime economics in prestigious international peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, books, and professional magazines. His research work has been presented at international scientific and professional conferences worldwide. He has worked at the Central Securities Depository and the Derivatives Market of the Athens Stock Exchange. Lastly, he has provided consulting services to various companies in the field of risk management.
