Scott A. Snell

O. Scott Snell is a Professor of Business Administration at the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. He teaches in the fields of leadership and business organization and is an expert in strategic management and human resource management. In recent years, he has collaborated with companies such as CIGNA, Deutsche Telecom, Shell, and the World Bank, aligning human resource management with strategic management. Professor Snell has authored more than 50 articles in prestigious academic journals and has served on the editorial boards of several journals, including the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Human Resource Management Review, Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Management, Journal of Managerial Issues, Journal of Management Studies, Organizational Dynamics, Organizational Studies, Personnel Psychology, and Strategic Management Journal. He has also co-authored three books: "Management: Leading and Collaboration in a Competitive World," "Managing Human Resources," and "Managing People and Knowledge in Professional Service Firms." He has participated in the committee of the Society for Human Resource Management Foundation, the Academy of Human Resource Management Division, and the journals Human Resource Management and Academy of Management. Before joining the Darden School of Business in 2007, Dr. Snell was a professor and director of the Center for Executive Education at Cornell University and a management professor at the Smeal College of Business Administration at Pennsylvania State University. He earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Miami and his master's and doctoral degrees in Business Administration from the University of Michigan. He grew up in Lodi, Ohio, but now lives in Charlottesville, Virginia, with his wife and three children.
