Tony Atkinson

Sir Anthony (Tony) B. Atkinson was born in Wales in 1944 and passed away in 2017. He is considered one of the leading contemporary British economists. He taught at University College London, the London School of Economics, and the universities of Essex, Harvard, Oxford, and Cambridge. He also served as president of international scientific societies, was an editor of scientific journals, and received numerous honorary awards and titles for his work. He authored more than forty books and 350 scientific articles on a wide range of public finance research, covering taxation, social protection and policy, and the structure and role of the welfare state.
