Filippos Filippou

Philippos Philippou was born in Corfu in December 1948. He has published a total of twenty books. From 1968 to 1982, with short or long breaks, he traveled as an engineer on cargo ships. His first book, "The Knytes, Children of Necessity or Mature Children of Rage?" was published in 1983. This was followed by the short biographies "Ideal Suicides or Long Live Death" (1984), the narrative "Lovers of the Sea or The Book of the Unknown Sailor" (1986), the crime novels "Circle of Death" (1987 and 2007), "The Smile of the Gioconda" (1988), and "The Black Hawk" (1996), the study "The Politician Nikos Kavvadias" (1996), the crime novel "Goodbye, Thessaloniki" (1999), the narrative "Omonia 2000. Journey to the Navel of Athens" (2000), the novel "The Last Days of Constantine Cavafy" (2003), the novel "New York, Summer and Loneliness" (2005), the biography "Konstantinos Theotokis, Slave of Passion" (2006), and the novels "The Death of Zorba" (2007) and "The Man Women Loved" (2009), "The Angry Teenager" (2010), "The Enamored Elytis" (2011), "Life and Death of Constantine Palaiologos" (2012). His book "The Last Days of Constantine Cavafy" was translated into Catalan and Romanian. His short stories have been included in German anthologies, while his articles, essays, and book reviews have been published in publications in Athens, Thessaloniki, Corfu, and Nicosia. He wrote about culture and literature for the newspapers "Avgi" and "Epochi" and the magazine "Anti."
