Iasonas CHandrinos

Iasonas Chandrinos was born in Athens in 1984. He graduated from the Department of History and Archaeology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2006. His research focuses on the period of World War II, the Occupation of Greece (1941-1944), and the Jewish genocide by the Nazis. From 2007 to 2017, he worked as a historical-scientific associate at the Jewish Museum of Greece and is a founding member of the Laboratory for the Study of Greek Jewry. In 2012, he published his first book titled "The Punishing Hand of the People: The Action of ELAS and OPLA in the Occupied Capital (1942-1944)" with Themelio Publications, which went through three reprints. In 2015, he defended his doctoral dissertation on the experience of German occupation in various European cities during World War II, supervised by Professor Hagen Fleischer. The dissertation was published as a book in 2018 by O Mov Skouros Publications under the title "Cities at War (1939-1945): European Urban Centers Under German Occupation." In recent years, he has been living and working in Germany. He is a research associate at the University of Regensburg in Bavaria, and since October 2018, he has been conducting postdoctoral research on 'Greeks in the Third Reich: Captivity-Forced Labor-Worker Migration' as a fellow of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). He is married to historian Anna Maria Droumbouki, and they live in Berlin with their four cats.
