
Maria Sampatakaki
Maria Sabatakaki studied History at the School of Philosophy of the University of Athens and at the University of Helsinki (Finland). Alongside her studies, she pursued literature, initially attending writing courses at Christie's International Art Studies and subsequently at the University of Cambridge.
She worked as a trainee researcher at the Historical Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for three years, participating in the processing of historical records and the publishing activities of the department.
In 2003, her first short story, "The Honor of Pantelis Avrakeas," won an award in the literary competition organized by the newspapers "Odos Arkadias" and "Eleftherotypia."
Since 2004, she has been collaborating as a columnist with the monthly magazine "Historical Issues." Within the framework of this collaboration, her monographs were published as supplements by the magazine: "Famine in Occupied Greece, 1941-1944" (2007), "Monarchy in Greece, the Evolution of a Controversial Institution" (2008), and "The Cyprus Issue, from British Rule to the Invasion of Attila" (2009).
She has also occasionally collaborated with the historical supplements of the newspapers "Ethnos" and "Eleftherotypia," as well as with the magazines "Athens Magazine" and "Military History." In 2010, her first book titled "Zannia Kotsika is My Name" was published by Topos Publications.
