Thomas J. Neff

Thomas J. Neff is the chairman of the American consulting firm Spencer Stuart, where he has worked since 1976. He led the company globally from 1979 to 1987. His consulting practice focuses on the recruitment of CEOs and other senior executives, the search for board members, and leadership succession management in companies. Neff co-authored with James M. Citrin the book "Lessons from the Top: The 50 Most Successful Business Leaders in America—and What You Can Learn from Them" (New York, Doubleday, 1999), which has been published in seven languages. Before joining Spencer Stuart, he was a director at another executive search consulting firm, CEO of an information systems company, and simultaneously a senior marketing executive at TWA. Additionally, he served as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company in New York and Melbourne. He is a board member of companies such as ACE Limited, Hewitt Associates Inc., and Lord Abbett Mutual Funds, among others.
