Makis Panorios

Makis Panorios was born in 1935 in Kefalonia. He studied painting at the ABC School of Drawing and Painting and theater at the Drama School of Theater and Directing of Pelos Katselis. He worked as an actor for eighteen years in independent theater and ten years at the National Theater, as well as in radio and television. As a writer, he has authored novels, novellas, short stories, plays, and book and film critiques. He has illustrated more than five hundred books and has edited and prefaced around a hundred. His first theatrical appearance was in the play "The Song of the Dead Brother" by Mikis Theodorakis, in the role of Charon, in 1962, with the Greek Folk Theater of Manos Katrakis. His literary debut was with the novel "The Conquest" in 1970. He writes book reviews for the daily press. Awards: - International Karel Award 1993. Presented by Brian Aldiss for his contribution to science fiction and fantasy literature. - Golden Ikaromenippos 1995. First prize for his science fiction short story "Actor." Awarded by the science fiction magazine "Pleiades" and the "Fantastic Argonauts." - Golden Olive Wreath 2006 from the Municipality of Aigaleo. Awarded by Mayor Dimitris Kalogeropoulos for his contribution to literature and culture. - Honorary Plaque from the Athenian Science Fiction Club. Awarded in 2006 by ASFC for his overall contribution to the promotion of science fiction in Greece.
