Elena Maroutsou

Elena Maroutsou was born in Athens in 1967. She studied History at the School of Philosophy in Athens and pursued postgraduate studies in Literature and Visual Arts at Reading University in England. She has engaged in photography and collage as an amateur. She has authored the short story collections "Of Heights and Depths," "The Betrayals of Names," and "The Vulgar Orchids" (nominated for the Reader's Magazine Award, the Kostas and Eleni Ouranis Award of the Academy of Athens, and the State Short Story Award). In 2009, her novel "Between Train and Platform" was awarded the Athens Prize for Literature by (de)kata magazine. She lives and works as an educator in Athens.
