Maria Negreponti - Delivani

An honors graduate of the School of Economics and Political Sciences at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, she pursued her postgraduate studies at the Sorbonne in Paris on a French government scholarship, where she received the State Doctorate in Economic Sciences with distinction and commendation. Her doctoral dissertation was published with the support of the French CNRS and appeared in the French SEDES series. She also studied and conducted research at the London School of Economics, Berkeley (USA), and the European University Institute in Florence (Fiesole). She is an associate professor at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a Professor of Economics at the University of Macedonia. She has served as a consultant to the OECD in Paris, vice president of the International Association of French-speaking Economists, and the scientific association CEDIMES, and is the President of the "Dimitris and Maria Delivani Foundation." She was the first Greek woman to be elected Rector three times at the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki. Her biography is published in the "Who is Who" editions. She is an Honorary Doctor of Democritus University (Thrace), Targoviste University (Romania), and Kainar University (Almaty-Kazakhstan). She has been awarded by the Academy of Athens for her book on the regional development of Greece, is an honorary citizen of Komotini, and has been honored with four gold medals from the Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki for her social contributions. She was selected as a Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence and was invited for an official visit to the State Department. Her scientific influence is evident from numerous invitations to teach and lecture at universities in Washington, New York, Paris, Rome, Bonn, Marseille, Florence, Trieste, Sofia, Bratislava, Warsaw, Krakow, Melbourne, Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Rio de Janeiro, South Korea, Port-au-Prince, and Yaoundé. She has participated as a speaker, organizer, and chair in countless international conferences worldwide. She has been entrusted with research projects by the Greek Ministry of Development, the CNRS in Paris, the National Centre for Social Research, the OECD in Paris, NATO, the Institute for Balkan Studies, the Centre for Planning and Economic Research, the Hellenic Organization of Small and Medium Enterprises and Handicraft, the European University Institute in Florence, and the University of Macedonia. Her published work includes 37 books, studies, monographs, and research papers, along with over 500 articles in Greek, French, English, Spanish, and Romanian, and she has been honored with first prizes, commendations, and numerous reviews. In collaboration with the media and maintaining political neutrality, she actively participates in shaping public opinion on current economic issues. The many thousands of students and numerous doctoral candidates under her supervision have staffed higher education institutions in Greece and abroad, as well as the private and public sectors.
