Charles Wyplosz

Charles Wyplosz is a Professor of International Economics at the Graduate Institute of the University of Geneva and the director of the International Center for Monetary and Banking Studies. Previously, he served as the deputy dean for the Research and Development Department at INSEAD and as the director of the Doctoral Program in Economics at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris. He was also the director of the International Macroeconomics Program at CEPR, Europe's leading network of economists. His main research areas include economic crises, European monetary integration, fiscal policy, economic transitions, and current regional integration in various parts of the world. He co-authored a leading textbook on macroeconomics and European economic integration and was one of the founding members of the journal Economic Policy. He is a member of various editorial boards of professional journals and European research centers. His articles are regularly published in newspapers such as the Financial Times, Le Monde, Liberation, Le Temps, Finanz und Wirtschaft, and Handelsblatt. Currently, Charles Wyplosz is a member of the group of independent economic advisors to the President of the European Commission, the European Parliament's Committee of Economic and Monetary Affairs Expert Group, and the Bellagio Group. He also occasionally works as a consultant for the European Commission, the IMF, the World Bank, the United Nations, the Asian Development Bank, and the Inter-American Development Bank. He has served on the Conseil d'Analyse Economique, which advises the Prime Minister of France, the Commission des Comptes de la Nation of the French Ministry of Finance, and has been an advisor to the governments of the Russian Federation and Cyprus. Charles Wyplosz studied engineering and statistics in Paris and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University.
