Elli Filippopoulou

Elli Filippopoulou is a legal expert specializing in European intellectual property law. She was born in Athens in 1970 and attended the Athens College (graduated in 1988) and the Law School of the University of Athens (degree in 1992). In 1991, she obtained a diploma in European Community Law and Competition Law from the University of Strasbourg, and in 1994, she specialized in Intellectual and Industrial Property Law and European Law (LL.M) from Trinity College, University of Cambridge. She has been a member of the Athens Bar Association since 1995 and is an attorney at the Supreme Court of Greece. Between 1992-1999, she worked at the European Commission and the European Parliament, handling portfolios of legal and cultural affairs. She served as an expert for Greece and project manager in European Union programs. In 1997, she collaborated with the specialized intellectual property law firm "Agi Metaxopoulou," and since 1999, she has maintained her own law firm, "Elli Filippopoulou & Associates." She served as a legal advisor to the National Book Centre of Greece (EKEBI) and the Panhellenic Federation of Publishers and Booksellers (POEB). Her writing activities include publications in the "Entertainment Law Review" (Sweet and Maxwell publications), "Business & Company Law," and articles on intellectual property issues in print media and cultural publications. She has participated in educational seminars for members of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce on European intellectual and industrial property law.
