Dimitrios Vasileiou

Dimitris Vasileiou is a Professor of Banking Management at the Hellenic Open University. He graduated from the Department of Economics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and pursued postgraduate studies at the University of Kent at Canterbury in the United Kingdom, where he was awarded M.A. and Ph.D. degrees. Mr. Vasileiou is the Associate Dean of the School of Social Sciences at the Hellenic Open University and the Director of the Postgraduate Banking Program at the same university. He has also served as the Director of the MBA Program at the Hellenic Open University. Additionally, he is the Coordinator of the "Banking Management" module in the Postgraduate Banking Program and has been the coordinator of the "Financial Management and Accounting" module in the MBA Program at the Hellenic Open University. Mr. Vasileiou has extensive professional and teaching experience. He has served as Deputy Governor of the Civil Aviation Authority and as a Consultant-Expert for major companies and organizations, such as the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity, the Supplementary Insurance Fund for Public Employees (TEADY), the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the General Secretariat of the National Statistical Service, Ethniki Insurance, and Ktimatologio S.A., among others. Mr. Vasileiou taught for over 20 years at the Athens University of Economics and Business, where he held the positions of Assistant Professor of Financial Management, with tenure, and Lecturer of Financial Management. He has co-authored with Nikolaos Hreiotis the books "Financial Management: Theory and Practice," "Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management," and "Principles of Financial Accounting," published by Rosili Publications. Additionally, he has authored five books in the fields of Financial Management and Portfolio Management, which serve as textbooks for the Undergraduate Program in Business Administration and Organizations as well as the Postgraduate Programs in Banking and Business Administration (MBA) at the Hellenic Open University. Furthermore, Mr. Vasileiou has taught as a Visiting Professor at Charles University in Prague (Universitas Carolina Pragensis), the National Technical University of Athens, the Ionian Bank Institute of Banking Executives, the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, and has held a position in the Studies Directorate of Ionian Bank. He has extensively taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as corporate financial management, portfolio analysis and management, money and capital market analysis, financial analysis, and modern financial products. He has delivered presentations at numerous executive seminars organized by organizations and banks, such as Alpha Bank, Ionian Bank, Commercial Bank, Hellenic Railways Organization, Export Promotion Organization, Audit Council, "Alpha - Beta" Vassilopoulos S.A., Daniel E. & Co. S.A., among others. He has published more than 80 articles in prestigious Greek and international scientific journals and has presented numerous papers at international scientific conferences. His articles have been published in journals including the Global Finance Journal, Journal of Behavioral Finance, Applied Financial Economics Letters, Managerial Finance, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Risk Assessment and Management, International Business & Economics Research Journal, Management Sciences & Regional Development, International Review of Economics and Business, European Research Studies, Les Cahiers du Pole de’ Etudes des Politiques Sociales et Economiques (PEPSE), The Journal of European Economic History, Archives of Economic History, The Empirical Economics Letters, Quaderni di Economia e Finanza, Studies in Regional & Urban Planning, Middle East Forum, Operational Research, Spoudai, etc. His current research interests focus on banking management, corporate finance, and portfolio investments.
