Kostas I. Melas

Kostas I. Melas holds a Ph.D. from the Department of Urban and Regional Development at Panteion University, specializing in International Monetary Affairs. His doctoral thesis was titled "Exchange Rate Developments in Greece 1974-1985." He also holds a Master's degree (M.Sc.) from the Institute of Regional Development at the same university, specializing in International and Interregional Trade. His master's thesis was titled "Theories of International and Interregional Trade." He graduated from the School of Economics and Commerce at the University of Florence (Italy), specializing in Agricultural Economic Development. His undergraduate thesis was titled "Vicende e condizioni dell’ agricoltura greca." He has been teaching at the university level since 1990. At Panteion University, he taught "Macroeconomics" and "International Economic Relations" in the Department of Political Studies (1990-1993). He also taught at the Department of Economics at the University of Piraeus, covering courses such as "Monetary Theory and Policy," "Economic Policy Theory," "Globalization and International Competition," and "Special Topics in Macroeconomics" (1997-2009). Additionally, he teaches in the Master's program of the Department of International and European Studies at Panteion University, offering courses on "Globalization of the Economy" and "International Finance" (2001-present). He worked as a Management Consultant at Emporiki Bank and served as the Director of the Bank's Educational Institute from 1996 to 2005, where he also taught "International Banking," "Bank Financial Management," and "International Economic Relations." He has also taught in the postgraduate program at the University at Urbana, covering Derivatives and Bank Management. He is the President of the Group for Political and Economic Reflection. Kostas I. Melas has published numerous research papers and articles in scientific journals and conference proceedings and has edited a large number of books.
