CHristos Vlachos

Dr. Christos Vlachos was born in the village of Klirou, Cyprus, in 1968. He is a graduate of the Grammar School of Nicosia, the Edinburgh Business School (Heriot Watt University) in Scotland with a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), and the Middlesex University Business School in England with a Doctor of Philosophy in Accounting (PhD). His doctoral thesis was titled "An Empirical Investigation of the Financial Disclosure Practices of Cypriot and Greek Companies." He holds the professional title from the Association of Corporate Treasurers - ACT (UK), is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants - ACCA (UK), and is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus - ICPAC. After his studies, he worked at the international accounting/auditing firm Coopers & Lybrand (PricewaterhouseCoopers) and in 1990 co-founded the professional educational organization Accountancy Tutors Cyprus, which merged with Intercollege Cyprus in 1994. In 1996, he founded the multinational professional educational organization Globaltraining, which within five years became one of the largest educational organizations in Europe and the Middle East, offering study programs for globally recognized professional titles such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants - UK (ACCA), Chartered Financial Analysts - USA (CFA), Certified Internal Auditors - USA (CIA), Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW), Chartered Institute of Public Relations - UK (CIPR), among others. He is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Globaltraining group, Director of Professional Studies and Administrative Consultant at Intercollege Cyprus, and has served as an Administrative Consultant for several companies listed on the Cyprus Stock Exchange. He has taught Accounting and Finance in more than 10 countries across Europe and the Middle East and has trained thousands of professional accountants/auditors in International Accounting Standards. He has authored seven books on International Accounting Standards and Accounting, five of which have become bestsellers. Christos is the person who introduced ACCA to Greece in 1996 by establishing Globaltraining Greece and introducing professional study programs for ACCA and International Accounting Standards. In 2002, he prepared, along with Loukas Louka, the first edition of the book "International Accounting Standards," a publication described as a "milestone edition" for the accounting/auditing profession in Greece and Cyprus. He is married to Alexia and they have two children, Andreas and Anthos.
