Mpelika Koumpareli

Belika Koumpareli was born in 1958 in Athens. She studied theater at the Art Theater School and sociology in England. She holds a Ph.D. in social criminology. She has worked as a copywriter for multinational advertising companies and as a radio producer. Over the past decade, she has been teaching and translating. In 1987, she received the Second Prize for Emerging Playwrights from the Ministry of Culture for her one-act play "The Opponents." In 1989, she was awarded the First Prize by the Union of Writers of Northern Greece for her short story "My Sewn One," which was also recognized in the literary competition of the magazine "Rhevmata" and published in the collective volume "The Art of Writing."
