Thomas Rice

Thomas Rice, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Health Services at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, where he also served as chair. He was the editor of the journal Medical Care Research and Review. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, obtained in 1982. He taught at the University of North Carolina's School of Public Health from 1983 to 1991, before joining UCLA. He has published extensively on topics such as competition and regulation in health services, physicians' economic behavior, cost containment, health insurance, and the Medicare program. He has received numerous awards for his research work.
