Lida Papastefanaki

Lida Papastefanaki was born in Athens in 1967. She studied history at the University of Crete, where she also completed her postgraduate studies and defended her doctoral thesis (2002). She is currently an Associate Professor of Economic and Social History in the Department of History & Archaeology at the University of Ioannina and a collaborator with the Institute for Mediterranean Studies/FORTH. Her research interests include the economic and social history of industrialization and labor, the social history of technology, the history of occupational health, urban history, women's and gender history, oral history, industrial archaeology, and Jewish history. Her scholarly publications, both in Greek and other languages, are dedicated to these fields. She is a member of the Greek Society for Economic History, the Society for the Study of Modern Hellenism, and the International Committee for the Conservation of the Industrial Heritage - Greek Section. Additionally, she participates in the Greek "Network of Historians for the History of Women and Gender" of the International Federation for Research in Women's History and the European Labour History Network, where she coordinates the working groups "Feminist Labour History" and "Labour in Mining."
