
Leon Nar
Leon A. Nar was born in Thessaloniki in 1974. He studied Classical Philology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.Th.) and pursued postgraduate studies in Modern Greek Philology, Bibliology, and the Didactics of Literature at the same university (2000). In 2007, he was awarded a Ph.D. in Modern Greek Philology from A.U.Th., and in December 2017, he completed his postdoctoral research at the University of Macedonia.
In 2007, he published (in collaboration with Giorgos Anastasiadis and Christos Raptis) the book "I, the Grandson of a Greek, Nicolas Sarkozy's Thessaloniki" (Kastaniotis), which was also translated into French. In 2009, his two-volume work titled "Yosef Eliyah, Complete Works" was published (Gavriilidis), and in the same year, he edited the commemorative album "25 Years of Ianos." In 2011, his book "Thessaloniki 1912-2012, the Future of the Past, a Different Narrative of History" (with photographs by Giorgis Gerolymbos) was released (Kapon), along with the study "Israelite Members of the Greek Parliament (1915-1936)" (Hellenic Parliament Foundation). In 2014, the book "The Game of the Stands, Commented Chants from Greek Stadiums" (Metaichmio) was published. Finally, in 2017, his theatrical play "I Never Forgot You" (Eurasia) was released, accompanied by a CD of Sephardic songs from the performance of the same name, which was staged by the National Theatre of Northern Greece in 2017.
His writings on philology, history, and literature, as well as his book reviews, have been published in collective volumes and journals (both print and electronic). He has edited six books (on historical content and children's literature). He had a regular column in the newspapers 'Ethnos' (2017-2018) and 'Macedonia of Sunday' (2006-2008). He writes for Parallaximag.gr and the magazine 'Thessalonikeon Polis'. He works as a philologist at the American College of Anatolia in Thessaloniki.
