THeofanis o Omologitis

Saint Theophanes was born in 760 AD. He was a chronicler and a Confessor of the Orthodox faith. Orphaned by his father, he was raised by his mother, Theodote, who ensured he received an education and arranged for him to marry a virtuous and wealthy young woman at an early age. However, he and his wife agreed to pursue monastic life, with Theophanes joining a men's monastery near the mountain of Sigriane, where he later became abbot, and his wife entering a women's monastery, taking the name Irene from Megalo. Alongside other abbots, he was invited to participate in the proceedings of the Seventh Ecumenical Council in Nicaea. Upon his return, he appointed another abbot to the Monastery of Sigriane and established a new, larger monastery to accommodate his numerous disciples. In addition to his duties as an abbot, he engaged in writing and calligraphy. After six years, he was exiled by the iconoclasts to Samothrace, where he ended his earthly life in 815 AD. Later, his disciples transferred his sacred relics to the monastery where he spent the last years of his life.
