CHrysovalantis P. Gaganis

Chrysovalantis Gaganis is a graduate of the Department of Accounting (Technological Educational Institute of Crete, 1998), with honors from the Department of Economics (University of Crete, 2002), and holds a master's degree in Organization and Management (Technical University of Crete, 2004). In 2007, he was awarded a Doctorate from the Technical University of Crete. During the winter semester of 2007, he took on teaching duties under Presidential Decree 407/80 in the Department of Production Engineering and Management at the Technical University of Crete. Since March 2008, he has been a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Bath, School of Management, UK. He is a member of the Hellenic Finance and Accounting Association and the Laboratory of Financial Management Systems. He co-authored two books titled "Recognition of Fraudulent Financial Statements: Methodological Framework and Applications" (Kleidarithmos) and "Financial Failure Prediction Systems: The Greek Experience" (Kleidarithmos), and has contributed to the editing of a book titled "Evaluation Systems and Contemporary Issues in Economic and Financial Management" (Kleidarithmos). He also edited a book titled "An Approach to Tourism Visa Issues" (Grafotechniki Crete). He is an "editorial assistant" for the journals "International Journal of Banking, Accounting and Finance" (Inderscience) and "The Journal of Financial Decision Making" (Kleidarithmos), and serves on the Editorial Board of the journals "International Business Management" (Medwell Journals), "Southeuropean Review of Business Finance & Accounting," and "International Journal of Multicriteria Decision Making" (Inderscience). He has published more than 20 research papers in reputable international scientific journals, such as "Review of Quantitative Finance & Accounting," "European Journal of Operational Research," "Omega," "Applied Financial Economics," "Managerial Finance," "Intelligent Systems in Accounting Finance & Management," "Expert Systems with Applications," "International Journal of Auditing," "Annals of Finance," "Applied Economics Letters," and "International Journal of the Economics of Business," as well as over 40 articles in economic newspaper columns and specialized financial magazines. He has participated in numerous workshops and scientific conferences (both national and international) on topics of Financial Management and Financial Accounting. In 2008, he received the "Highly Commended Award" from the Emerald Literati Network for his article titled "A multivariate analysis of the determinants of auditors' opinions on Asian banks" (in collaboration with F. Pasiouras), published in the "Managerial Auditing Journal," 22 (3), 2007.
