Dimitris P. Sotiropoulos

Dimitris P. Sotiropoulos was born in Athens in 1972 and is a Professor of Modern Political History at the University of the Peloponnese. He has previously taught at the Ionian University/Department of History, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and more recently at the National School of Public Administration and the Hellenic Open University. Additionally, he is the Editorial Secretary of Greece's oldest ideas magazine, NEA ESTIA, and a regular columnist for the newspaper Kathimerini and the magazine Lifo. He is a member of the Scientific Committees of the journal Philosophical Inquiry and Foreign Affairs, The Hellenic Edition, and he directs the 'Ideas & Politics' series at Metaichmio Publications. Furthermore, he is a member of the scientific committee of the 'Angelos Delivorias' Circle under the auspices of the Hellenic American Union and a member of the Scientific Committee of the 'Cypriot Society of Historical Studies'. He has been a member of the scientific/organizational committee for 14 conferences. He has authored "Phases and Contradictions of the Greek State in the 20th Century, 1910-2001" (Estia, 2019) and "From 'Unyielding' to 'Right-Anti-Right'. Political and Social Divisions in the 'Long' 1960s" (Kathimerini, 2019). He has over 70 publications in scientific journals, collective volumes, or conference proceedings, and has edited 9 collective volumes or conference proceedings, including the English-language volume P. Panayiotopoulos - D.P. Sotiropoulos (eds), "Political and Cultural Aspects of Greek Exoticism", Palgrave-Macmillan (July 2019). He has been a member of the Journalists' Union of the Athens Daily Newspapers (ESIEA) since 2004 and is the radio producer of the weekly talk show 'Stories from the First Floor' on @Amagi.
