Nikolaos D. Filippas

Nikolaos Filippas is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Administration at the University of Piraeus. He graduated with honors from the Department of Economics at the University of Athens and obtained both his master's and doctoral degrees from the Athens University of Economics and Business. He has published articles in nearly all Greek economic journals and related financial newspapers. His research work has been featured in industry-leading scientific journals such as Applied Economics, Applied Financial Economics, Applied Economics Letters, Managerial and Decision Economics, International Review of Economics and Business, Journal of Applied Business Research, Espace Europe, Managerial Finance, International Business and Economics Research Journal, among others. One of his published studies titled "Estimation of Price Parameters: Bank Stock Price and the Variance Components Model" (Applied Economics 1988) is included in the collection of notable articles in the field of Finance. This collection was curated by Professor R. Brealey (Bibliography of Finance, 1991, MIT Press). Additionally, two of his published studies (Applied Economics, 1988 and Managerial and Decision Economics, 1993) are included in the collection of the most significant scientific contributions in the field of Finance and Economics concerning Greece. Furthermore, his article "Chasing trend and losing money: Open end mutual fund investor's trading in Greece" was awarded by the University of Piraeus for its contribution to the advancement and promotion of the institution. His research interests lie in the areas of Stock Market Investments, the Athens Stock Exchange, the domestic and global Mutual Fund market, as well as broader Econometric Applications in Finance. He is the author of four books and seven research studies. Mr. Filippas has presented his work at international scientific conferences and has extensive experience in the Greek Capital and Money Markets as a senior executive in a brokerage firm, Investment Services Firm, and Mutual Fund Management Company.
