Maro Vlachopoulou is the Dean of the School of Information Sciences and a professor in the Department of Applied Informatics at the University of Macedonia. She specializes in Electronic/Web/Mobile Business & Marketing, Marketing Management, Marketing Information Systems, and Social Media Marketing. She holds a degree in Economics with a specialization in Business Administration from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.Th.), a degree from the Law School of A.U.Th., a postgraduate diploma in Marketing Management from BWL Universitaet Mannheim & Business Administration from A.U.Th., and a Ph.D. in Marketing Information Systems from the Department of Applied Informatics at the University of Macedonia. Her research, teaching, and professional activities focus on e-marketing, internet marketing, marketing management, marketing information systems, the development process of electronic business plans, e-commerce/business, electronic business models, mobile business & marketing, information systems in healthcare, social media marketing and networks, online advertising, Customer/Partner Relationship Management (CRM/PRM), knowledge management in marketing, electronic supply chain, business collaboration networks, and the application of electronic business models in various business fields. She has participated in European Research and Development Programs related to these research areas and has served as President and member of scientific and organizing committees of international conferences. She is also a member of Greek and international scientific societies/organizations, including the European Marketing Academy (EMAC), Hellenic Marketing Academy (ELAM), Association of Information Systems (AIS), International Association for Development of the Information Society (IADIS), International Society for Inventory Research (ISIR), SOLE - The International Society of Logistics Engineers, European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM), European Federation for Information Technology in Agriculture, Food and the Environment (EFITA), Hellenic Association for Information and Communication Technologies in Agriculture Food and Environment (HAICTA), Hellenic Institute of Informatics (EIP), and the Hellenic Operational Research Society (EEEE).
