Stefanos Dimitriou

Stefanos Dimitriou was born in 1968 in Athens. He is an Associate Professor of Political Philosophy in the Department of Political Science and History at Panteion University. He studied at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Ioannina and pursued postgraduate studies, as an I.K.Y. scholar, in Paris. In 1998, he earned his Doctorate in Philosophy from Paris VIII, completing his dissertation in Political Philosophy under the supervision of Professor Jacques Poulain. From 2000 to 2004, he taught in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Patras, and from March 2004 to December 2017, he taught Political Philosophy in the Department of Philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Ioannina as an Associate Professor. Since March 1, 2018, he has been teaching Political Philosophy in the Department of Political Science and History at Panteion University as an Associate Professor in the Division of Social and Political Theory. His research and teaching focus on modern and contemporary, as well as ancient Greek Political Philosophy, and the Theory of Democracy. He was a member of the editorial board of the journal "O Politis." He is a member of the editorial board of the journal "Axiologika" and the Board of Directors of the Sakis Karagiorgas Foundation. Since 2000, he has been a regular contributor, columnist, and book critic for the newspaper "I Avgi."
