Alexandros Kioupkiolis

Alexandros Kioupkiolis was born in Athens in 1975. He studied Greek Philology (Classical Studies) at the University of Athens and Political Theory at the Universities of Essex and Oxford, where he earned his Ph.D. He has taught Political Theory at the Universities of Oxford and Cyprus, and since 2010, he has been a lecturer in the Department of Political Sciences at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, specializing in "Contemporary Political Theories." His research interests focus on modern philosophy of freedom, philosophy of law, theories of democracy, and the analysis and critique of power. Among his publications are the books "Radical Democracy and Collective Movements Today: The Biopolitics of the Multitude versus the Hegemony of the People," a collective volume edited by A. Kioupkiolis and G. Katsambekis (Ashgate, London 2014), "Freedom after the Critique of Foundations: Marx, Liberalism and Agonistic Autonomy" (Palgrave-Macmillan, Hampshire 2012), and "Politics of Freedom: Agonistic Democracy, Post-Anarchist Utopias, and the Emergence of the Multitude" (Ekkremes, Athens 2011).
