Ioannis A. Seimenis

He was born in Athens and studied at the University of Athens, where he earned his undergraduate and doctoral degrees. In 1988, he received the UNESCO award-scholarship and continued his research at universities and research centers in Poland, Spain, Switzerland, and Italy. He is a professor at the University of the Aegean, where he has served since the early 1990s. He served as Vice-Rector of Financial Planning & Development and Chairman of the Research Committee from 2003 to 2006, and from 2006 to 2010, he was elected President of the Department of Mediterranean Studies. Professor Yiannis Seimenis has been elected for three consecutive two-year terms as a Member of the Confidentiality Commission (the highest arbitration body) of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague.
