
Vagelis Driskas
Vangelis Driskas (www.driskas.com & www.testkitchen.gr) was born in Komotini and raised in Alexandroupoli. With countless hours of teaching, seminars, and years of live TV recipe presentations under his belt, he has the ability to convey knowledge in an understandable and direct manner. His expertise, professional experience, communication skills, and approachable character make him a bridge between the professional chef and the amateur cook. In recent years, he has collaborated as a chef or culinary consultant with major restaurants and food companies. Since 1998, he has been conducting cooking seminars in collaboration with private Gastronomic Education schools. Since 2002, he has worked with magazines such as "Radiotelevision," "Menu & More," "Kitchen & Quality of Life," "Real Simple" (Greece), and "C-Mail" of the Carrefour Group. Since 2007, he has been part of the core editorial team of the monthly magazine "Gourmet" of "Sunday Eleftherotypia" and is also a member of the Jury of the annual Gourmet Awards of "Eleftherotypia," which honor the best restaurants in Greece and the best Greek packaged products and wines. In February 2010, he founded the company d.t.k. with Andreas Efstathiou, which operates in the gastronomy sector with cooking seminars, consulting services for professionals, audiovisual production, and publications. In the same month, the Driskas Test Kitchen cooking seminar space began operations, a fully equipped cooking workshop where cooking seminars are held for amateurs and professionals, beginners and advanced adults, and cooking seminars for children (www.testkitchen.gr). Vangelis Driskas is well-known to the public from his daily TV appearances for six consecutive years, starting with the show "In the Kitchen Full Speed Ahead" on Mega (2000-2002), on the morning shows of ET1 and NET (2002-2005), and Alpha (2005-2006). Since November 20, 2011, his new show "Flavors in Nature" has aired every Sunday at 2:00 PM on Skai: Inspired by nature and its products, with a backdrop of fresh herbs and spices, chef-culinary expert Vangelis Driskas welcomes us once a week to his "outdoor" kitchen and serves easy, quick, and delicious recipes every Sunday at 1:30 PM on Skai TV. His books are bestsellers, and his award-winning bibliography confirms that he is one of the best cookbook authors in the world, as he is the only Greek author whose books have all been awarded international prizes at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards (considered the Oscars of culinary publications). His book "Chinese Cuisine" was awarded in March 2009 in Paris as the "Best Chinese Cuisine Book in the World" (1st prize - Best Chinese Cuisine Book in the World) at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2009. His books "Every Day Chef" and "Aromatic Cuisine" received the honorary distinction of "Best Book by a Chef in the World" at the award ceremonies in Barcelona in 2004 and Stockholm in 2005, respectively. In 2007, his book "A Year in the Kitchen of Vangelis Driskas" was the only one to receive two awards on the night of the Gourmand Awards ceremony in Beijing, winning "Best TV Chef Book in the World, Honorable Mention" and "Best Cookbook Photography in the World, Honorable Mention" for the photographs by Andreas Efstathiou. Vangelis Driskas's 2008 Cooking Diary, themed "Athens-Beijing," was awarded as one of the two best books in the "Best Chinese Book in the World" category, as announced on Sunday, April 13, 2008, at the official Gourmand World Cookbook Awards ceremony in London. Additionally, he has collaborated with the radio stations "Alpha" 9.89 with his weekly show "Radio-Kitchen" and "Lampsi" 92.3 with the daily segment "Every Day Chef."
