
Antonios A. Antonakos
Antonios Antonakos, originally from Laconia (from the shaded Mesa Mani), was born on November 11, 1954, in Piraeus, where he also grew up. He completed his secondary education at the 5th Boys' Gymnasium of Piraeus. He is a philologist and historian, holding a degree from the School of Philosophy at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Since 1980, he has been teaching in secondary education. He contributes articles to various newspapers and magazines, publishing his specialized studies and research related to classical Greek language, history, and folklore. He has presented his studies through numerous lectures as well as on various television and radio programs. He is also involved in poetry and songwriting. He has published the poetry collections "Overlooking" (1980) and "On the Margins" (1989). A professional lyricist since 1982, he has a discography of hundreds of songs with his lyrics set to music by well-known composers and performed by renowned singers. He speaks English and Italian. He is married to painter and art educator Krinio Papadimostheni-Antonakou, and they have a ten-year-old son named Andrianos.
