
Xeni Arapogianni
Xeni Arapogianni was born in Athens. She studied at the School of Philosophy at the University of Athens, Department of History and Archaeology, and holds a Ph.D. in Classical Archaeology from the Department of History and Archaeology at the School of Philosophy of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. As an archaeologist for the Ministry of Culture, she served for several years in various Ephorates of Antiquities (2nd, 10th Ephorates of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities, and the Ephorate of Underwater Antiquities). From 1990 to the spring of 2006, she was the Director of the 7th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities of Olympia, where she conducted significant archaeological and excavation work in the regions of Elis, Messenia, and Zakynthos. During the country's preparation for the 2004 Olympic Games, she was responsible for all projects carried out in Olympia, as well as the re-exhibition of its three museums and the Archaeological Museum of Elis. Since April 2006, she has been serving as the director of the newly established 38th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities of Messenia.
