Evi Gerokosta was born in 1977 in Athens. She studied French Language and Literature at the School of Philosophy of the University of Athens and literary translation at the Center for Literary Translation of the French Institute of Athens. She has worked with environmental protection organizations (Archelon - Society for the Protection of the Sea Turtle, Hellenic Ornithological Society), at the European Center for the Translation of Literature and Human Sciences (EKEMEL), was responsible for the educational programs department at the National Book Center from 2004 to 2014, and since 2014, she has been collaborating with the Hellenic Foundation for Culture. She has translated more than 130 books from French and English for children and adults. Nine of her illustrated books for young and older readers have been published: "How Dreams Were Born," Metaichmio 2010, "Stars at the Bottom of the Lake," Metaichmio 2011 - Penelope Maximos Award from the Circle of the Greek Children's Book, "The Frog and the Kiss," Metaichmio 2013, "A Day That Became Night," Christakis 2013, "A Heart on the Right," Parrisia 2014, "Small Awakenings," Parrisia 2016, "Asfondilitis," Kaleidoscope 2017, "The Sleeping Woman," Kaleidoscope 2018 - Award from the Circle of the Greek Children's Book for Maria Bacha's illustration, "The Cage of Dreams," Kalendis 2018. In 2002, a red thread led her to storytelling. She has been narrating professionally to both young and adult audiences since 2003, with her performances hosted in schools, libraries, bookstores, music venues, theaters, festivals, and more, in Greece and abroad. Her repertoire includes oral tradition stories from all over the world that she has heard, read, or translated, but mainly stories that "chose" her. She has experimented with combining storytelling with other arts: music, painting, dance, theater. In recent years, she has dedicated herself to narrating literary fairy tales. Some are aimed at children, others at adults. It's a different approach to literature, with stories that captivate those who listen, but mainly her. Since 2015, she has been sharing her experience with adult students at the School of Narrative Art at the Center for the Study and Dissemination of Myths and Fairy Tales.
