Filimon Paionidis

Philemon Paionidis is a professor of ethics and political philosophy in the Department of Philosophy and Education at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), where he has served since 1998. He studied at AUTh and the University of London and holds a doctorate from the University of Crete. He has been a visiting scholar at universities in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Belgium, and has taught in the Political Science Department at the University of Hamburg. He has held positions as department head, director of graduate studies, department chair, and deputy dean. Since 2018, he has been a member of the Ethics and Research Deontology Committee at AUTh. His publications, which include over one hundred monographs, edited volumes, articles, and translations, address issues in normative and applied ethics, political philosophy, informal logic, freedom of expression, and more recently, democratic theory and history.
